About the Institute for Economic Democracy Press, IED Press

The Institute for Economic Democracy Press (IED Press) is a cooperative publishing house within the Institute for Economic Democracy (IED) dedicated to publishing high quality books on world peace, sustainable development, establishment of permaculture and eco-housing, eliminating poverty and providing a quality life for all the world’s citizens.

Our books provide all the arguments and details necessary to eliminate the global war-system and create a peaceful, federated world order based on the common good of all human beings.

When we placed our research on the web in 1999, it did not seem like many people understood the financial, economic, and covert wars which kept the world in bondage.

When our Economic Democracy books reached the university system of Indonesia they had their eureka moment. A lecture on the subject made the front page of a major Indonesian newspaper, and it seems they named their ‘Centre for Economic Democracy Studies’ after that book. We learned about this from a supporter in Indonesia. It is our purpose that their eureka moment, the same as we had as that research came together, will become yours as you understand The simplicity of eliminating poverty and war We need only look reality in the eye and restructure property rights law, as applied to nature’s resources and technologies which she offers to us all for free, to full and equal rights for each citizen of this earth.

Today the entire developing world understands they have been plundered by trade. We will never know how much our research had to do with the current worldwide populist revolution ongoing as we speak but the shakeup in Indonesia addressed above, and we only learned about that by accident (we had a supporter there), indicates it did have substantial influence. Now most on the periphery of empire understand how the international trading game is played and are again demanding their freedom with full and equal rights.

We have all read the 700-year history of taking the commons away from the masses. But no where else do you read that this was only the first stage of a 700-plus-year process establishing current property rights law as applied to nature’s resources and technologies which she offers to us all for free, or that the economic classics produced the last 200-plus years were little more than justifications for that violent and inefficient economic structure. Abandoning those imposed unequal property rights laws, again as applied to nature’s resources and technologies which she offers to us all for free, will quickly eliminate poverty. With those full and equal rights, poverty and war will disappear and the world will be at peace.

To request review copies of any of our publications please contact us. As a cooperative publishing house, we currently pay ourselves substantially higher royalties. If classroom use is substantial, we will increase royalties to match. The founder of IED, J.W. Smith, accepts no royalties on his books at this time.

We need more cutting edge researchers. If you can broaden our understanding and that of our readers, have a high-quality book within you that you wish to use in class, or just wish to reach the world, please Contact Us.
